Media offer for Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day and Cleantech Tour 28 – 29 September 2009

Background to the event
Sweden is quickly positioning itself as a world leader when it comes to cleantech innovations with, for example, no less than six Swedish companies featuring on the Guardian’s 100 list of European cleantech companies in September 2008. The event has been awarded official EU Presidency status in line with the current Swedish EU presidency’s theme of climate and energy. It is timely in that it takes place in the run up to Stockholm becoming Europe’s first ever Green Capital in 2010, thanks  to its long historical track record of integrated urban management .

Offer to journalists
Journalists will be offered the opportunity to network with and interview cleantech entrepreneurs and professionals from across the world, and learn about how these inventions can help fight climate change, allow developing countries to access new technology, or improve urban management. Opportunities also include interviews with bold venture capitalists and the different co organisers of the event.

A comprehensive program has been arranged which includes:
-    A cleantech tour with international investors and cleantech professionals around prominent cleantech sites in and around Stockholm.
-    Attendance at Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day 2009
-    Interviews with Swedish politicians
-    Interviews with leading cleantech professionals and the winner of the Cleantech of the Year Award 2009

Journalists are invited to participate in all or some of the events.

Logistics
Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day and Stockholm Cleantech Tour are organised by Stockholm Cleantech Business Network, Stockholm Innovation & Growth and Cleantech Scandinavia.
The event will take place on 28 and 28 September 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Watreco received this year's Cleantech Company of the Year Award and the prize sum of 100 000 Swedish crowns. The reward ceremony completed Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day 2009 - Scandinavia's largest cleantech investment day.

More than 40 investors and venture capitalists are coming to Stockholm for the Cleantech Venture Day!


The main objective of the Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day is the encounter between cleantech entrepreneurs and investors. With ten days left until the event, this objective seems already to have been met. More than 40 venture capital companies and industrial investors and have registered so far. They are coming from all over the world to meet the 25 Scandinavian cleantech companies who have been selected to present their cases.

Official EU presidency event status for Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day.
Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day is awarded official status in association with Swedish EU presidency 2009. Sweden holds the EU-presidency during the second half of 2009, leading up to the climate conference in Copenhagen in 2010. Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day is now one out of 17 official events on the agenda.
