15.30 -16.45  Third stop: Uppsala Innovation Nest

Vertical Wind

The first order went in 2007 to telecom giant Ericsson, for construction of a wind turbine for mounting on Ericsson's Tower Tube type radio masts. By powering base stations with a renewable energy source, Ericsson aims to reduce their carbon emissions as well as ease network expansion in developing countries. The second order in October 2008 went to E.ON and Falkenberg Energy for 4 * 200kW systems to be delivered in November 2009.

Electroengine

Electroengine has developed a complete electric vehicle system that can easily be installed in most regular cars. The system is called True Electric, and it represents a new way to manage the vehicle battery, significantly increasing both battery performance and life-span.

17.45  Fourth stop: Swedish Energy Agency introduces TranSIC

TranSIC develops a new generation of power transistors for hybrid vehicles and power conversion for new sources of energy based on the use of silicon carbide. The technology is a result of a well established tradition of silicon carbide research in Sweden.
