Ola Alterå
State Secretary, Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications 

In the Ministry, Mr. Alterå is responsible for energy, state ownership policy, primary industries and sustainable development. With the background in Environmental Economics and Engineering, he started the political career in the early 1990s, and is an established expert in growth opportunities in cleantech, working with emerging markets and industrial development. Prior to joining the Ministry, Mr. Alterå worked for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency as well as for Swedish District Heating Association among others.

Olivia Lum
Group CEO, President & Managing Director of Hyflux International

Olivia Lum started corporate life as a chemist with Glaxo Pharmaceutical and left in 1989 to start up Hydrochem (S) Pte Ltd, the precursor to Hyflux Ltd.
Managing the Group for 19 years now, Ms Lum is the driving force behind Hyflux's growth and business expansion, responsible for policy and strategy formulation and corporate direction. A former Nominated member of Singapore Parliament, Ms Lum holds several positions in the public service. Presently, she sits on the board of a number of companies. She is a Member of the NUS Board of Trustees, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory Limited as well as National University Health System.

 

 

 

Alexander Lidgren
Co-founder and Chairman of Cleantech Scandinavia

Cleantech Scandinavia is a membership network of Nordic cleantech investors. The company has grown quickly and now supplies a majority of Nordic cleantech investors with cleantech knowledge, contacts and dealflow. Cleantech Scandinavia tracks Nordic cleantech investments and keeps an updated database of cleantech investment opportunities. Alexander holds a MSc in Environmental Management and Policy as well as a BSc in Business Administration and Marketing. He has an entrepreneurial background having co-founded and developed two venture backed technology companies, one later sold to a stock-listed company.

Helena Tillborg
Director of Sweden Cleantech Incubators

Helena Tillborg is the director of Sweden Cleantech Incubators and responsible for the sustainability screening of member companies. Helena has a PhD in physics and solid industry experience in business development, environmental issues and environmental technology from positions in The Natural Step and Tetra Pak. She has also run her own company in the environmental area for six years. Helena is a member of Sweden’s Environmental Technology Council, Swentec.
 
  

 Ulla Hamilton
Vice Mayor City of  Stockholm

Ulla Hamilton has an extensive background in politics as well as in the private sector. She has been a member of the Stockholm City Council since 1995. She is also a former member of the Local Government Councils of Uppsala and Lund. She worked as a political expert at former Prime Minister Carl Bildt’s chancellery 1991-1994 and she has been a consultant in PR and PA 1995-1999. Before she became vice Mayor she was Communication Manager at Svenskt Näringsliv (Confederation of Swedish Enterprise). Among the current responsibilities of Ulla Hamilton in the city of Stockholm administration are Stockholm’s Ports, Environment and Health Committee, Traffic and Waste Management Committee, Stockholm Water and Stockholm Parking.

Steven K. Rust
CEO of Green Valley Development, Fayetteville

Steven Rust started his career as the US Air Force pilot, where he served for 27 years, retiring with the rank of colonel. He served as a Base Commander for four military communities, and is a Viet Nam and Desert Storm veteran. In the civil career, Mr. Rust is greatly involved in the regional and community economic development in Sumter County, South Carolina and City of Fayetteville Arkanzas. In 2004 he has been selected as President and CEO of Fayetteville Economic Development Council (FEDC), where he worked to improve economic development efforts in Fayetteville. As a result, the city saw an investment of approximately $30M, 650 jobs and countless national awards for being the best place to live for business and careers. In April 2009 FEDC transitioned into Green Valley Development, where the mission is to connect the world’s best sustainability innovators, grow local companies, and support them with capital resources in order to excel in the world market. 

 


  

Nicolai Rottbøll Sederberg-Olsen
Managing Director of Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster

Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster has its main focus on attracting green investments, matching foreign venture with Danish cleantech entrepreneurs and facilitating innovative partnerships. Nicolai holds a Master Degree in Forest Science as well as a HD diploma in business administration. Before joining Copenhagen Capacity, Nicolai worked with international business development for the Conferation of Danish Industries (DI). Here, he covered projects in a number of developing countries, including Egypt, Vietnam, Kenya, and Zambia. Besides, Nicolai was part of DI's Globalisation team - responsible of communication, policy advocacy, and analysis of the international competitiveness of countries.

Uwe Ladenburger
Management and marketing for the City of Freiburg

Uwe Ladenburger, a biologist by degree, worked with environmental and sustainability communication throughout his career. He has experience in environmental research and well as in environment and quality systems management. Since 2007 he was managing the Solar Info Center of Freiburg, a center of excellence for renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable construction with 45 companies. Currently Mr. Ladenburger is the Manager of the Cluster “Environmental and solar economics in the region Freiburg – Green City” at FWTM Freiburg.

  


 

Magnus Rehn
Business Coach in Cleantech, Stockholm Innovation & Growth

Former co-founder/CEO of TagMaster AB, Magnus has great experience as a CEO, typically worked with international marketing, development, sanitation and organization. Has also worked as marketing and sales executive as well as having been on boards of companies targeted for reconstruction. Business Coach at STING since 2007.  As a CEO for various companies, Mr. Rehn worked with international marketing, development, sanitation and organization. Holds an MBA  from Uppsala Univarsity, worked in USA and Germany in such sectors as bank technology, telecom, software, and RFID technology.

Lassi Noponen
First investor to, and former chairman of Winwind

Lassi Noponen has acted in 2000-2009 first as a board member and from 2006 as the chairman of Winwind Ltd., a supplier of wind turbines operating in Finland and in India. Lassi is also the co-founder and CEO (2000-2006) of clean tech investment company Proventia Group Oy. Winwind was one the first investment of Proventia Group and they were the first investors to Winwind. Alltogether Lassi Noponen has gathered 10 years' experience in the businesses connected to environmental technology and renewable energy. He has previously acted as a partner at Evli Corporate Finance and held different management positions at Neste Corporation. Currently Lassi Noponen is a Member of the Board of Directors at Incap Oyj. He holds an MBA from London Business School.

  
 

Anders Brännström
President and CEO of Volvo Technology Transfer

Volvo Technology Transfer AB is a Venture Capital arm of AB Volvo Group. He has previously been 12 years with AB SKF in various managerial positions. He has also been CEO of start-ups and of medium sized engineering companies.  Anders holds a PhD from Chalmers University of Technology and Master of Business Administration from University of Gothenburg.

Paul Decraemer
Head Cleantech Investment Practice, Capricorn Venture Partners

Paul joined Capricorn Venture Partners NV in October 2006 after a period of assistance leading to the first closing of Capricorn Cleantech Fund NV. He is an expert in venture, expansion and project equity capital in the sustainable technologies industry. He currently is and has been serving on the Board of Directors of various European quoted and private companies active in such cleantech sectors as energy efficiency, renewable energy, smart metering, recycling, and environmental advisory services. Paul acquired cleantech investment experience as Managing Director at Sustainable Energy Ventures and as Senior Investment Manager of Flemish Environmental Holding Company (VMH). He holds a Master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering  from the University of Ghent and a post-graduate degree in Financial Management  from Vlerick Management School.
 

 

Michael Santullo
Cleantech Circle, co-founder of the Cleantech Open

Starting in 1994, Michael was the CEO and co-founder of the early Internet start-up Four11. He led the company from two person start-up until the successful acquisition by Yahoo in 1997. The company’s Rocketmail e-mail service, now known as YahooMail, continues to be one of the Internet’s most popular services. After leaving Yahoo, Michael became an active advisor, investor and board member with a number of early stage companies. In 2005, Michael was the lead organizer for a group of entrepreneurs looking to foster clean tech innovation within the state of California, which led to the creation of the California Clean Tech Open, the nation’s leading competition for clean technology start-ups. Michael holds a BSEE from M.I.T.

Barbara Evaeus
Manager Climate Communications, WWF Sweden

Barbara Evaeus joined WWF in 2007, after a 20 year business career in international marketing, executive sales and sustainability communications. In addition to developing campaigns aimed at building public opinion, Barbara’s focus since joining the organization has been on creating WWF’s platform to support the commercialization and dissemination of transformative climate technologies. With a BSc in Social Welfare and Psychology, and great interest in people and the environment, Barbara’s main personal and professional objective is to apply her skills and experience to the global effort to safeguard our planet.
 
 

 

Magnus Emfel
Manager Climate Innovations at WWF- Sweden

Mr. Emfel is responsible for WWF Sweden’s work on analyzing and catalyzing improvements for the global development and dissemination of climate innovations (please visit www.climatesolver.org for more information). Prior to this Mr. Emfel worked on sustainability-driven business development for 10 years, including the launch of Stockholm’s first cleantech business park, coaching of cleantech startups and establishing the Swedish Sustainable Investment Forum, SWESIF. Mr. Emfel also brings more than 10 years of business experience from sales, business development, management consulting and project management. He holds a BA in Business from Stockholm University School of Business and Diplomas in Management and Marketing.

Christian Kornevall
Director of the Energy Efficiency in Building Project (EEB) ,World Business Council for Sustainable Development

Christian Kornevall is an economist by training and is of Swedish nationality. He started his career as a teaching professor at Stockholm University on labor market issues. He worked for ILO in Latin America in the 70-ties on employment and income distribution issues. He returned to Sweden to work at Sida with development aid. He joined the Red Cross and became employed by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1996. After 10 years of  involvement in wars and conflicts, Christian moved to the UN in Vienna (UNDCP) and later headed its Regional Office in Bangkok with the aim at fighting drug trafficking and organized crime in the South East Asia region. He returned in 1999 to Europe and joined WWF International as Deputy Secretary General. Between 2001 and 2005, he was Senior Group Vice President at ABB, in charge of Sustainability Affairs.

  

 

Patrick Burtis
Investment manager, Amadeus Capital Partners

Pat Burtis leads the Cleantech practice for Amadeus Capital Partners Limited, a leading European venture capital firm. Prior to joining Amadeus in 2006, Pat was an independent consultant for 7 years in the Cleantech and Life Sciences fields, during which time he worked with numerous cleantech startups, mature businesses, and NGOs. At Amadeus, Pat is a Director of GreenRoad, which offers a telematics-based service to improve driver safety and fuel efficiency, and supports other Amadeus companies. Pat holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Igor Jelinski
European Commission Environmental Technology Action Plan

Igor Jelinski is a Policy Officer with the European Commission, Directorate-General Environment, Unit G3 „Research, Science and Innovation” since March 2008. He is member of the team responsible for the implementation of the Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP). His main areas of responsibility include: cooperation with the Member States, ETAP communication activities, eco-innovation targets & indicators and contributing to the development of EU innovation policy. Mr. Jelinski previously worked in both private and public sectors, and has experience with the automotive, chemical and food industry sectors, as well as energy policy and climate change. He holds a MSc degree in Financial Economics and International Business from the Norwegian School of Management and a MA degree in European Public Affairs from Maastricht University.

 

 

Svante Bengtsson
CEO of Rehact

Svante Bengtsson is the CEO of REHACT AB, one of the most awarded Cleantech companies in Sweden during 2008. First noticed by WWF/Global Focus in march 2008 several other awards soon followed , both national and international. Despite the global finance crisis, REHACT has recently closed its first external financing round and are now focusing on market introduction in Poland. Mr. Bengtsson has a background from the software industry and has studied management at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Christopher Vargas
Cleantech Circle

Christopher Vargas has been an internet entrepreneur since the late 1980s. He began his career as a Captain in the US Air Force. From 1991-1999 he was a senior executive at Cisco Systems, in sales and marketing. Following that, he has worked as a President and CEO of several Internet businesses in Europe and the US. Since 2003 Christopher is involved in the investment business, and in 2007, Vargas co-founded The Cleantech Circle LLC, an early stage Cleantech investment partnership. Today, he is an active Cleantech private investor and is a member and supporter of several environmental and philanthropic organizations. Christopher holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana.
